Ybor City is a historic Latin quarter and former center of cigar manufacturing wears two hats today: a creamy Panama for daytime lunching, shopping, cigar smoking and coffee sipping, and a black fedora for the high-spirited playground it becomes at night. Three men with big ideas changed the fate of Tampa forever. Gavino Gutierrez, Vicente Martinez Ybor, and Ignacio Haya immigrated to Tampa from 1832-1868. The neighborhood has been designated as a National Historic Landmark District and several structures in the area are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Ybor City is one of the most exciting areas in Tampa. 7th Avenue is a renowned street adorned with restaurants, entertainment venues, clubs, bars, boutiques, cafes, museums, galleries, a movie theater, and more.
