The Cloisters of Beach Drive Condo in downtown St. Pete was the first of the “new” condos along Beach Drive, a 14 story building with 32 residential condominiums. A group of local businessmen developed the project, which was completed in 1999. The Cloister really broke the mold. Views include Straub Park, the cityscape, the St. Pete Yacht Basin and, of course, Tampa Bay. One of the first of a new breed of stunning downtown luxury condos. The first floor is retail and includes Market Express, a market/deli/coffee shop with inside and outside dining. The second floor is common area, with a lap pool on the terrace overlooking the Museum of Fine Arts, Straub Park, the Vinoy Basin and Tampa Bay. In addition to a small fitness center and the common rooms, there is a guest apartment which owners can reserve. Each unit has a balcony, but the balconies are small. Floors 3-12 have 3 condo residences per floor, all with a common lobby foyer, and each of the top two floors is a penthouse unit. Secured covered parking for two cars is provided for each unit. It's interesting to note that the public records show the name of the condo as Cloister of Beach Drive Condo's and the condo website shows the name as The Cloisters on Beach Drive. It's generally referred to locally as just The Cloisters. Start your day with a cup of coffee at the first floor cafe or grab a bite at the deli for lunch. Relax in the second floor common area or cool off in the lap pool. Best of all, residents of The Cloisters get to enjoy the white sand of Spa Beach, just steps away from home.
